What is MERITVS?
Research-merit assessment and research incentives for universities
MERITVS is a platform, backed by a team, that lets universities assess their faculty's research merit with their own scoring rubric, manage research incentives and meet research requirements, in a traceable way.
What it does today
- Applies each university's own scoring rubric ("baremo"), versioned: every merit keeps the version it was scored with.
- Runs staff validation, correction requests and point adjustments with a per-merit decision log.
- Manages internal research-incentive calls (academic year, deadline, eligible categories).
- Computes a yearly research-activity index per person and per group, and yearly objectives.
- Keeps a people directory and a group register whose history is never deleted.
- Issues certificates with a public verification code; in Spain, tracks the research requirements of Royal Decree 640/2021.
What it does not do (yet)
- It does not award national rankings or accreditations; agencies decide.
- No connectors with other systems, ORCID or national CVs yet; no appeals workflow, reviewer assignment or qualified e-signature yet.
- The interface is in Spanish (English available but under native review); there is no Portuguese interface yet.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is MERITVS?
MERITVS is a platform, backed by a team, that lets universities assess their faculty's research merit with their own scoring rubric, manage research incentives and meet research requirements, in a traceable way.
Who is it for?
Today: private universities, newly created universities and Latin American universities, mostly small and medium-sized. Spanish public universities also need ENS certification, a WCAG audit and SAML sign-in, which are on the roadmap.
Does it replace a research information system (CRIS)?
No. It works alongside whatever system the university already has and adds the evaluation and incentives layer; existing data is loaded once. There are no connectors yet.
Who builds it?
Expertiot SL (Spain), which also provides consultancy, data migration, onboarding and evaluation services.
How is it priced?
An annual fee by edition and by tier of academic staff covered, plus implementation. Prices are given at the first meeting.
